Dear Mr. Buckley:

I'm keeping myself from Web surfing until I meet some deadlines, so I haven't seen your page yet. But I'm interested in your Web Page listings for architects.

I spoke to you several years ago about Rumford fireplaces. You gave me lots of information and help, but then my client didn't buy anything from you, which annoyed me -- he just had his mason build the two fireplaces. And the large one downstairs the mason built according to the New Hampshire book, ignoring the details I'd drawn. After that, I made sure he got the upstairs one right.

I tried to get hold of you for later jobs, but you had moved, and I couldn't find where you'd gone. I also recommended your company to a friend who spent quite a long time calling information, etc., trying to find you. So I was glad to see your notice.

I've won awards for architecture, historic preservation, town planning and architectural history.* I have a small office in Bedford, New York, but with national and international contacts.

What sort of info do you need for the Web page?

Dear Mr. Buckley,

Thank you for your reference. I was interested to see that you include my friend Jim Kunstler's book The Geography of Nowhere in your booklist. You might also like Kunstler's Home From Nowhere (see http://www.kunstler.com/books.html) and Suburban Nation, by Andres Duany, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk and Jeff Speck (http://www.dpz.com -- I also like Harry Potter.)

Then there's New York 1900, New York Architecture and Urbanism 1890 - 1915 (http://www.massengale.com/pages/bookstop.htm), a great book, of course.

Sincerely yours,

John Massengale
