Recomended Books on Fireplaces and Chimneys and Other Stuff

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

by J. K. Rowling, Mary Grandpre (Illustrator)

Because it's ever so slightly controversial (being a story for children about sorcery and witchcraft) I've had the happy duty of reviewing these stories before sending them off to grandchildren for Christmas. They are absolutely delightful stories. I think the kids will be lucky to get these books away from the adults in the family.

So how do these books relate to fireplaces besides being good to read by a fire? J. K. Rowling magically lights fires in fireplaces whenever she wants to create a feeling of well-being, warmth and good will - a cultural tradition we'd like to preserve.

Gotta go. I'm not quite finished with the third book and I've got to figure out how to make my wand light the fire. - Jim Buckley
