Yes I did roast on the spit turned by a tourne brouche (clock jack) in front of my new Rumford. Mine is a French antique c1750 which I found at the famous Sunday flea market in Provence at Ile Sur la Sorgue. I think the price was $1500 US.

The best reproductions are at Colonial Williamsburg, made by the blacksmiths there. They are very likely more than $2500. They may have referral sources. I would call the blacksmith shop at Wm'sburg.
