Mounting brackets are constructed of 11 gauge C.R. steel. The Control Cover clamps to the flue tiles. You must have 3" or more of exposed flue liner or order the special mounting base for chimneys with no flue liners. The standard mounting bracket slips over a non-curved side of a flue liner with a maximum 1-1/4" wall thickness. Any flue liner with a thicker wall or curved wall requires a mounting bracket modification. The Control Cover opens approximately 85 degrees. It is powered by a torsion spring biased toward the open position. Hinge clearance - allow 2-1/2" per flue liner
