Section 704.3.3.2
Add a new practice as follows:
Rumford and Rosin fireplaces, stoves and heaters that use renewable
sources of fuel, such as wood, wood chips, corn, etc.
Assign 10 points.
Reason: These efficient users of renewable energy provide sufficient and
auxiliary heat for many dwellings. They may be the only source of heat
in off-the-grid dwellings.
Section 901.2
Under POINTS, delete ", Only allowed for Bronze Level".
Reason :This limit is not logical. The mere presence of the fireplace is not
detrimental. Many masonry-burning fireplaces are also designed to use
gas logs. Wood burning is limited by local governmental agencies.
Installation of the fireplace should not be limited as it may be the
only source of heat in off-the-grid dwellings.
Section 901.2(a)
Delete Item (2) and its points.
Reason:Not installing a fireplace or woodstove should not generate points. They are not common in many areas; their installation is controlled by 901.2(1).
