Hi Jim! Wanted to update you as it's an exciting day here in Zambia - we are starting the build for the Rumford fireplace! Will keep you posted on how it goes but here are some early day-1 photos! The builders called it "madam's special fireplace" as they can't figure out why I would want it so shallow, but I assured them it's worked for hundreds of years - even if it's the first one in Zambia! We managed to caste the throat using refractory cement, a plastic barrel cut in half, and some scrap wood and pvc. Not the most beautiful throat in the world, but hopefully it will work!
