I recently did a retrofit of an existing 70's vintage masonry fireplace using a 36" one piece throat and stainless steel damper from you folks. I managed to remove the old firebox get the new throat into the existing smoke chamber and build a new insulated insulate firebox underneath it without tearing out the existing masonry chimney or stone façade. It draws beautifully through the original 15' lined chimney and heats the uninsulated room it is in to shirt sleeve temps in 4 hours even with an outside temp of zero.

Thanks for keeping the vision of Count Rumford alive. Had I not found you and your website I might be huddled up in front of an electric space heater instead.
