Here is a fireplace in a parlor just 10 miles east of our Swiss house*. This Greek Revival 2 story was built 1847 - 4 years after our 1843 fireplace was built . But it was built by a non-Mennonite politician who resided in the country outside of a larger town. Mr McKinnis was Scotch-Irish. All here is walnut wood. I was hired by the county to make sure the furnishing of this room were correct for the 1840-1850 time period. This fireplace is original to the house but has a stainless steel flue now.
