Whenever I go to your website to look something up I end up forgetting what it was I wanted to look up because I get so interested in your amazing collection of data! So here is a great big pat on the back for you Jim. What a incredible reference site you have created for us. I wanted to let you know I have a letter from the South Coast AQMD on Rule 445explaining that we can repair or replace existing wood burning fireplaces without the new rule affecting the repair. As long as the location of the fireplace does not change the Rule will not affect the repair or replacement. Let me know if you would like a copy of the letter and I'll scan it and email it to you. I have a question for you too. In converting a fireplace to a Rumford can we reduce the flue size? In some cases we would like to install cast-in-place liners which of course reduce the EFA. I know a lot of guys doing this but wonder what the code is on the firebox to flue ratio on a Rumford. Perhaps you could direct me to the answer. Thanks.
