Hi Jim, you wouldn't know me but i read about your fireplaces in "This Old House" magazine about seven years ago. I replaced a poorly functioning pre-fab with a Rumford. I have lived in this house for almost ten years and have never had any other source of heat. Yes I live in Southern California, but it still can get cold. Being a plumber, I have seen a few fireplaces in my time. Not very many have been Rumford's, but these people don't know what they are missing. Keep up the good work.
