The "POLICE" are not always what they say they are. Some really are local police or sheriffs but some may be Border Patrol or especially ICE which often drives unmarked cars and wear uniforms that say "POLICE" on them. It's important to know the difference. And, if stopped, first always ask for a name, badge and agency they work for.

Port Townsend Police Department: 360 385 2322 or 911 1925 Blaine Ste. 100 Port Townsend, WA 98368 Chief Michael Evans Generally police will not enforce immigration law. They won't call ICE/BP. They do enforce traffic and other laws and, if they stop you in your car they will require dirvers to show identification, license and registration of vehicle. Ask any officer to identify him/herself and the agency he/she works for. If in doubt (could be a criminal or ICE/BP) consider dialing 911 to contact the real police.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
Local Chief is Ed Bloom, who lives in Kala Point and, according to Police Chief Evans, is a nice guy mostly interested in trafficking and drug enforcement. That could change and ICE is most likely to be secretive as judges by past raids in Iowa and San Diego documented on this website. ICE does not enforce traffic laws. If stopped by ICE exercise your right to remain silent, ask for a lawyer and ask if you are free to go.
