A 1931 graduate in Advertising of Ohio's Akron University, Myrtelle worked for Goodrich Tire Company before her marriage in 1935 to Alan G. Buckley in Singapore. While Alan worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., they lived in Indonesia, Brazil, Luxembourg, and India, in addition to the Akron, Ohio area before retiring in 1974 to Green Valley AZ, then Tucson, and finally to Port Townsend, WA. Myrtelle became an Elementary School teacher in the mid-1950’s and also wrote a column for the weekly Cuyahoga Falls, OH newspaper. She was a member of the P.E.O. International Sisterhood Chapter CS, Ohio. As a mother and grandmother, she was unfailingly generous with her wit and her sense of humor; she loved puns and puzzles. She was quite talented at all aspects of textile arts, particularly knitting, needlepoint, embroidery. She loved to play the piano, and played periodically up to the end of her life. A Remembrance was held at Victoria House, Friday, September 10, 2004, at 3 p.m. followed by a reception at her son's home. Memorials may be made to the Continuing Education fund, P.E.O.
