ACLU of Washington - field@aclu-wa.org

The ACLU of Washington is cosponsoring a public forum to discuss recent changes in U.S. Border Patrol enforcement on the peninsula. The border patrol is stopping and questioning motorists at checkpoints away from the border, without suspicion of wrongdoing. The ACLU opposes setting up such "Constitution-free zones." We hope that you will join us to encourage our leaders to respect our freedoms, and ask them about future policies and practices.

Monday, November 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Chimacum High School Auditorium.

Panelists include:

Michael Brasfield, Jefferson County Sheriff
Conner Daily, Chief of Police for the City of Port Townsend
Michael Bermudez from the Public Relations office of the Department of Homeland Security/Border Patrol
Chief John Bates, Assistant Patrol Agent in Charge of Port Angeles
Shankar Narayan, Legislative Director of the ACLU of Washington
Ann Benson, Directing Attorney for the Washington Defender Association's Immigration Project

Jackie Aase of the League of Women Voters, Ruth Merryman of the AAUW and Scott Wilson of the Port Townsend/Jefferson County Leader will moderate the forum and conduct a Question-and-Answer session after the presentations.

Co-sponsored by the Jefferson County Chapter of the ACLU of Washington.

This event is free and open to the public.
