The Reitan oven was built over a few days by David Lacey and Jim Buckley with help from Ted Shoulberg and Seth Watterson. These pictures show the base, the oven liner with an optional an air intake in back, insulated with a layer of DeltaCrete insulating refractory, then a layer of less expensive insulating concrete made with 10% Portland and Pearlite, a layer of fiberglass as a bond break held in place with hardware cloth and, finally, the whole dome plastered with regular mortar.
