Buckley Rumford Fireplaces
Disney Inglenook

Hi Jim

I have owed you picts for at least 5 yrs, I am grateful for your expertise and advise on this project. The rock is Tennessee Fieldstone Nuggets, for the vivid reds, oranges, yellows , etc.............in a dry stack.

Workes great, except the cable broke to the chimney top damper @ 1.5 years? Has operating crane (not shown).

This is what seperates the men from the boys............makes the headscratchers alarmed as to what comes next...............

Can I use a oak lintel to support rock veneer in front? I could even use a steel lintel under the wood?

Best Regards
Bob Disney

Bob,

Thank you so much. The pictures are great - as are your Rumfords and stonework.

I'm not sure what "oak lintel" you mean. All the fireplaces seem to have concrete headers or lintels. Do you mean the oak lintel over the opening to the inglenook? That's okay. But you must comply with the code to have no combustibles within six inches of the fireplace opening and only project 1/8" per inch away until you are 12" from the opening.

Best,
Jim
