You may or may not remember me from our few conversations but, I have burned a few logs now and feel confident that, while the masonry work is sloppy and amature-ish, it is solid and it draws like a bastard so, I think it was a success. It was my first and, probably, my last fireplace effort. I am pleased with the results and so is most everyone who has occasion to see it. Your products made it all the easier to achieve. Thank you. The only way it could have been easier would have been to have someone else do it for me but, then it would have been someone else's fireplace, wouldn't it....... Thanks again for your help on the phone. Malcolm

2/15/11

A cosy fire winter of 2010/11.

Temperature of the fire brick just behind and over the fire - 768 deg F.

Temperature of the lintel 4" up from the edge is at 140F. At the very edge of the stone, I have seen it over 200F. Above the mantle is in the 90's F.

My son and his mother warming by the fire.
